All of Brazil's proved reserves have been found along the eastern portion of the country. Late Jurassic, Neocomian, Aptian, Albian-Santonian and late Cretaceous-Tertiary petroleum systems are associated with five stages in the tectono-sedimentary evolution of the Brazilian coastal basins.
