Anisotropic creation and closure of tension induced fractures. [Explosive induced rock fractures]

Conference ·
OSTI ID:7254538
A material model is presented which simulates the anisotropic creation and closure of tension-induced rock fractures. The relationship of the model to explosive-enhanced permeability of geologic formations is discussed. The model is introduced into a two-dimensional finite-difference computer code, and the tensile fracture effects produced by a long cylindrical explosive charge detonated beneath a free surface are calculated.
