The distribution of the interstellar medium in the Scd galaxy NGC 6946. II - The CO data

A fully sampled (C-12)O map of the inner 6.75 arcmin of the Scd galaxy NGC 6946 made with the 14-m antenna of the Five College Radio Astronomy Observatory is presented. H I and B- and I-band fluxes measured in the same apertures as the CO emission are also given for comparison purposes. The CO emission is centrally peaked with a fairly smooth radial falloff. Smaller peaks in the CO-integrated intensity are found in the northeast and southwest, toward two bright optical spiral arms. 16 refs.
