ASHRAE: the answer to a national energy policy. [Proposed adoption of Standard 90-75 in new building design]

Activities of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers, Inc. (ASHRAE) have been confined to accurate reporting of data to government agencies, which recognize the need for ASHRAE input in national energy policy but have paid less attention to professional and technical engineering groups than to other, more demanding, groups. ASHRAE is participating in a briefing entitled, ''Energy Conservation--A National Goal'' at which they will propose a 25 percent energy savings by adopting Standard 90-75 for energy conservation in new building design without expanding Federal agencies or appropriations. The ASHRAE Standard 90-75 emphasizes fuel conservation in the home through research and development of total design concepts and a system of loan guarantees to apply higher standards to new construction and retrofit existing buildings.
