Automatic compression release for two-cycle engine
This patent describes an automatic compression release assembly for a two-cycle engine including a cylinder wall, a piston movable within the cylinder wall, a crankcase formed at a first end of the cylinder wall, and means defining a compression release opening at a second end of the cylinder wall, opposite the first end. The release assembly comprises: a stationary valve seat operatively connected to the means defining the pressure relief opening, and a movable valve body, a valve actuator member operatively connected to the valve body; the pressure responsive member defining a first chamber, the pressure responsive member operatively connected to the valve actuator member; spring biasing means for biasing the actuator member so that the valve body is normally displaced from the valve seat to allow exhausting of fluid through the pressure relief opening; and means defining a fluid flow path between the crankcase and the first chamber.
