Photoproduction of negative pions and the ground state wave function of /sup 12/C

The energy dependence of the total cross section for the /sup 12/C(..gamma..,..pi../sup -/)/sup 12/N reaction has been studied taking into account the presence of two-particle-two-hole (2P-2h) correlations in the ground state wave function, in the impulse approximation. The results are in good agreement with the experimental data in the first pion-nucleon resonance region.
