The authors studied the possibility of using various ion-selective electrodes and ion-selective field-effect transistors to determine mercaptans in condensates. In contrast to cation-selective electrodes iodide- and cyanide-selective electrodes as well as ion-selective field-effect transistors were not poisoned and can be used for routine analysis. Glass and chloride-selective electrodes without liquid contact were preferable as reference electrodes.
