This patent describes a gas turbine. It comprises: a rotary compressor; a radial inflow turbine wheel mounted for rotation and coupled to the compressor; an annular nozzle and shroud structure; an annular combustor; an annular plenum; at least one passage in each of the vane, each opposing at one end through the rear shroud to the flow path between the compressor and the outlet area; and means in fluid communication with the compressor for providing compressed air to each of the passages at a location spaced from the one end.
