Distributed-feedback dye laser emitting pulses at a high repetition rate

A distributed-feedback dye laser with a pulse repetition frequency up to 100 Hz was constructed. The optical pumping and formation of distributed feedback were due to the second and third harmonics of a YAG:Nd/sup 3 +/ laser. The emission wavelength was found to be tunable in the spectral ranges 408--420 and 548--710 nm. The laser emitted radiation of (3--4) x 10/sup -2/ nm spectral width and 8 x 10/sup -3/ rad angular divergence; its efficiency was up to 12%. (AIP)
