The authors have investigated the possible ground states of a ternary FCC lattice model with nearest and next-nearest neighbor pair interactions by constructing an 8-dimensional configuration polytope and enumerating its vertices. Thirty one ternary ground states have been found, some of which correspond to structures that have been observed experimentally. In addition they present some prototype ground state diagrams for ternary systems.
