A new turbocharging system was developed for smaller high speed diesels and gasoline engines. The turbocharger also includes a built-in wastegate control to make the turbocharger suitable for application to automobile diesels which have a wide load and operating speed range. The system is applicable generally on engines of from 1.5 to 3.5 liters displacement and with engine speeds up to about 5000 rpm. Performance testing and fuel consumption are discussed.
