Giant quadrupole resonance in Ni isotopes

Inelastic scattering of 129 MeV alpha particles has been used to excite the giant quadrupole resonance in {sup 58,60,62,64}Ni. The resonance was found to exhaust 58{plus minus}12 %, 76{plus minus}14 %, 78{plus minus}14 %, and 90{plus minus}16 % of the {ital E}2 energy-weighted sum rule, respectively, for {sup 58,60,62,64}Ni.
