Effect of oxalate precipitation on PuO/sub 2/ microstructures

Conference ·
OSTI ID:7234786
The microstructure developed in PuO/sub 2/ depends on the morphology of feed powder from calcined plutonium oxalate. Several oxalate precipitation techniques were used to develop various hot-pressed and sintered microstructures. Size and morphology of calcined powders were developed as quantitative functions of Pu(III) precipitation conditions. The effects of calcination on particle characteristics are described.
