Combat incinerator offgas corrosion; Part 2

Journal Article · · Chemical Engineering Progress; (United States)
OSTI ID:7233940

Part 1 of this two-part series covered the corrosion problems arising from hot hydrogen-halide acid gases exiting from an incinerator, the types of alloys and non-metallics (that is, refractory linings and polymers) used to prevent corrosion, the chemical reactions taking place in scrubbers, and materials selection of scrubbers. This second part of the article provides specific recommendations for the parts of the system, starting with the hot-gas sections and ending up with the exhaust fan and liquid system.
