Charged-particle-impact excitation of atomic hydrogen in the exchange-corrected eikonal approximation

Thesis/Dissertation ·
OSTI ID:7226042
The exchange-corrected eikonal approximation has been used to study charged-particle-hydrogen scattering. Reduced expressions for the eikonal direct and exchange amplitudes have been used to calculate direct, exchange, and symmetrized differential cross sections for electron-hydrogen elastic scattering and 1s ..-->.. 2s excitation. Total cross sections have also been calculated. In addition, differential and total cross sections for positron-hydrogen elastic scattering and 1s ..-->.. 2s excitation have been calculated. The results of this research are compared with other theoretical predictions and with available experimental results.
