Fuel injection valve

Patent ·
OSTI ID:7225982
This patent describes a fuel injection valve of the type having an ON-OFF switch formed by a nozzle body made of a conductive material and having a valve seat, the nozzle body being mounted through a conductive spacer on a nozzle holder, a needle valve made of a conductive material and slidably supported and guided by a guide hole defined in the nozzle body. The needle valve has a needle end, a rear end, a member extending between the ends having a peripheral surface, and an insulating layer on the peripheral surface so as to insulate the needle valve from the nozzle body. A means including a pin mounting the needle valve on an end thereof for moves the needle valve supported in the guide hole so as to lift the needle end thereof onto and away from the valve seat, and an electrical means applies a potential between the nozzle body and the needle valve, whereby an electrical conductive state is established between the needle valve and the nozzle body when the needle end is seated on the valve seat and an electrically insulated state is established between the needle valve and the nozzle body when the needle end is moved away from the valve seat. The improvement described here comprises: an electrical insulation member between the rear end of the needle valve and a surface of the conductive spacer facing the rear end so as to insulate the needle valve from the conductive spacer. The surface of the conductive spacer defines an outer limit of movement of the needle valve when the needle valve is moved away from the valve seat.
