Title: Hydrodynamical model of multiplicity ratios of proton-nucleus collisions to proton-proton collisions at high energies. [Diffuse edge effect]

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev., D; (United States)

We reexamine the hydrodynamical prediction of the multiplicity ratio of proton-nucleus collisions to proton-proton collisions at high energies using an arbitrary velocity of sound and taking into account the diffuse-edge effect of the nuclear density distribution. We find that the hydrodynamical model can adequately describe the available experimental data with a velocity of sound smaller than that of a relativistic ideal Bose gas. Our result on the diffuse-edge effect of the nuclear density distribution seems consistent with what is known from other nuclear physics data.
