A kit for attaching reed valves to the cylinder block of a 2-cycle engine of a jet-propelled small-sized boat between the engine carburetor and the engine block is described comprising a base plate, a carburetor plate and a reed valve case having reed valves therein and interposed between the base plate and the carburetor plate. The base plate has threaded holes for alignment with threaded holes in the engine block for receiving attaching bolts for insertion therethrough and threading into the threaded holes in the cylinder block for attaching the base plate to the block and threaded holes for attaching the reed valve case and the carburetor plate to the base plate and the block. The carburetor plate and the reed valve case have, respectively, unthreaded holes for alignment with the threaded holes in the base plate for receiving attaching bolts for insertion therethrough and threading into the threaded holes in the base plate for attaching the carburetor plate and the reed valve case to the plate and the block. The reed valve case has a recessed opening at the surface of the reed valve case abutting the carburetor plate and the reed valve case when the carburetor plate and the reed valve case are attached to the base plate for securing the reed valves to the reed valve case and the block.
