Forces acting on vortices moving in a pure type II superconductor

The motion of vortices in a very pure type II superconductor is analyzed in the case kappa very-much-greater-than 1 on the basis of the microscopic theory of superconductivity. It is shown that, similar to He II, the motion of the vortices is determined by the balance between the Magnus force of mutual friction between the superfluid and normal components. This latter force can be expressed in terms of the transport and transverse scattering cross sections for normal excitations on the vortex.
