This is the sixth in a series of quarterly progress reports on research and development studies performed by Pacific Northwest Laboratory (PNL) for the LWR Fuel Recycle Program. The LWR Fuel Recycle Program, sponsored by the U. S. Energy Research and Development Administration (ERDA), is designed to provide information needed by industry to close the back end of the commercial light water reactor (LWR) fuel cycle. Included in this program are activities in support of specific design studies as well as activities with more general application to fuel recycle technology. The overall program, managed by Savannah River Laboratory (SRL) under the direction of ERDA Savannah River Operations (SRO), is divided into the following categories. PNL conducts research in all but one of these categories: Economic and Environmental Studies; Spent Fuel Receipt and Storage; Head-End Processes; Off-Gas Treatment; Purex Process (solvent extraction); Finishing Processes; Waste Management; Environmental Effects; Safeguards; General Support. This quarterly report summarizes PNL activities during the months of April, May and June, 1977. Previous reports in this series are BNWL-2052, BNWL-2080-1, -2, -3 and -4.
