Boise rediscovers geothermal

The history of geothermal space heating in Boise, Idaho since 1890 is traced. The effect of cheap natural gas on geothermal use is mentioned. Plans for expansion in geothermal development are sketched. Boise's ERDA grant to investigate and define the legal and institutional problems involved is mentioned. Environmental problems are touched on but not thought to be a significant hindrance. A brief discussion of geothermal heating in Klamath Falls, Oregon is included with emphasis on the need for district heating there. (MHR)
