The perovskite-type oxides LnVO/sub 3/ (Ln=La-Lu and Y) containing a trivalent rare-earth ion and a trivalent vanadium ion were prepared. Magnetic susceptibilities of 15 LnVO/sub 3/ were measured in the temperature range 60--300 degreeK. The measurement for DyVO/sub 3/ was made down to 2 degreeK, in which the magnetic ordering of the Dy/sup 3 +/ ion was found. All LnVO/sub 3/ except GdVO/sub 3/ were antiferromagnets at low temperature. The paramagnetism of GdVO/sub 3/ persisted down to 60 degreeK. Most of the materials investigated showed a weak ferromagnetism with an ordering temperature of 88--150 degreeK. (AIP)
