This process involves a dual-component surfactant system for use in carbonate reservoirs having connate water divalent ion concentrations of 3,000 to 18,000 ppM. The surfactant consists of two anionic components: (1) a water soluble salt of a linear alkyl or a linear alkyl aryl sulfonate and (2) a water soluble salt of an alkyl polyethoxy sulfate. Polyacrylamide may be added to the surfactant for improved sweep efficiency and is used in the slug following the surfactant and preceding the water drive. Recoveries are anticipated at approximately 85% of original oil in place.
