Superconducting quantum interference devices: an operational guide for rf-biased systems. Technical note, 1970--1972

A number of practical considerations concerning the operation and application of rf-biased superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUID's) are discussed. In the course of routine operation of these devices one amasses a set of operational rules, many of which never reach the open literature. This report is aimed at filling that void. Topics of discussion include: the readout circuitry, operational limits of the SQUID, rf-coupling to the SQUID, flux transformers, and shielding.
