Oil spills: issues and actions

The most important international efforts to combat pollution caused by tanker oil spills are reviewed. Technical and jurisdictional aspects are considered along with choice of action. It is noted that the proper action is based on global cooperation and domestic interaction to protect the environment while ensuring continued navigation, trade, and commerce. (JRD)
