Repair of a false aneurysm of the abdominal aorta

This report describes the fifth instance of successful surgical management of a false aneurysm of the abdominal aorta following penetrating injury (a stab wound). The aortic opening of the aneurysm was located at the level of the left renal artery. The importance of direct and quick transluminal repair to avoid hazardous dissection in the vicinity of the aneurysm is emphasized.
