A method for producing battery electrodes is described. Battery plaque impregnated with cadmium, cobalt, nickel, or silver nitrate is immersed in a hot, concentrated solution of an alkali metal hydroxide, which process results in precipitation of metal (Cd, Co, Ni, Ag) hydroxide within the plaque. The proper methods for handling and recycling the solutions involved to minimize losses are explained. (RWR)
