Studies with high-expansion foams for controlling experimental-coal-mine fires: a progress report

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:7210210
An investigation begun by the Bureau in 1957 at its Experimental Coal Mine of the practicability of the foam-plug technique for controlling coal-mine fires under American mining conditions, with room-and-pillar-type extraction and multiple entries, is described. About 35 foaming agents, mostly commercial proprietary compounds, and 20 stabilizers or additives were studied.
