Power Group Committee activities on ehv transmission

Journal Article · · IEEE Trans. Power Appar. Syst.; (United States)

With the advent of extensive plans for 500- and 700-kV EHV systems on the North American Continent and the rapid growth of 345-kV systems, new technical problems arose and existing problems became more acute. Within the cognizant IEEE Technical Committees, these problems were discussed and technical ideas exchanged. The committees formed working groups or task forces to study problem areas, foster additional work and, at times, publish guides and recommendations or propose standards. The Technical Committees' primary objective in this new field was to promote individual effort of the technical world. The work of these various committees is briefly described in this article.
