In May 1991, Northern States Power introduced consultative account management (CAM). A results-oriented account management strategy, CAM uses team specially trained to build a partnership between the utility and client. The groups are cross-functional and include at least one representative from electric sales, distribution, engineering and design, transmission systems operations, billing, and customer service. Experience to date with this approach is summarized.
