This patent describes a method of making nonluminous gas by superheating steam and passing it through a superheater. The process continues by decomposing the steam into hydrogen, carbonic acid, and carbonic oxide by passing it down through a bed of incandescent fuel, and finally converting the carbonic acid of the gases into carbonic oxide by passing the gases down through a second bed of incandescent fuel.
