This paper reports a stored energy combustor. It comprises: a vessel having an interior wall defining narrow, spaced apart inlet and outlet ends interconnected by a relatively wide combustion chamber, a secondary stored energy zone, an oxidant inlet port upstream of the combustion chamber for directing oxidant into the combustion chamber; a fuel discharge port upstream of the combustion chamber for directing fuel into the combustion chamber; and a fuel discharge prot downstream of the combustion chamber for directing fuel into the secondary stored energy zone.
