Baghouses offer a consistently high efficiency performance under a variety of boiler operating conditions not available in any other particulate emission control equipment on the market today. In addition, the investment and operating costs are comparable with other equipment offering comparable efficiency. As to a choice of the types of baghouses offered to the industry, these are believed to be comparable in initial investment cost. The economics of bag replacement cost, however, can only be determined when bag life is known. Considerable work is being done to develop improved and less-expensive bag material which may be available for use in time for the first bag replacement.
