Aqueous membranes for the separation of gaseous mixtures

Journal Article · · Sep. Sci.; (United States)
Gas mixture separation characteristics of aqueous surfactent film membranes were studied. Permeation constants of carbon dioxide, oxygen, ethane, nitrogen, helium, and propane through aqueous films of 2 wt percent Ivory Liquid and of 2 wt percent Duponol WN were determined. Binary gas mixtures of carbon dioxide-nitrogen and carbon dioxide-propane were enriched in one of the components using a thermally induced driving force. The theoretical and experimental results of the permeation parameters are discussed. (Air Pollut. Abstr.)
