Numerous papers have been published on the relationships between the composition and the physical properties of asphalts. This paper reports on a study of the changes resulting from blending fractionated materials with various asphalts. Saturates and naphthene-aromatics, propane precipitated asphalts, and waxes were blended with different asphalts and the effects were studied. Cold Lake asphalt was studied because it is wax free, and Peace River asphalt was studied because it is an example of off-speculation asphalt.
