DOE review of N Reactor pressure tube startup documents: Comments and responses

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:719329
In 1987 the N Reactor was placed in a standdown condition to facilitate a number of safety upgrades and evaluations which were precipitated, in part, by the accident at the Chernobyl reactor. During this standdown period a number of safety reviews, examinations and tests were performed on the N Reactor pressure tubes to confirm their integrity. The purpose of this report is: to document the comments received from the Department of Energy Headquarters Office (DOE-HQ) on the N Reactor pressure tube startup related documents; to document the associated Westinghouse Hanford Company (WHC) responses to those comments; and to identify when the actions necessary to resolve certain comments will be performed.
