Hanford Surplus Facilities Program plan
The Hanford Surplus Facilities Program (HSFP) is responsible for the safe and cost-effective surveillance and maintenance and decommissioning of surplus facilities at Hanford. There are currently 115 facilities managed by the HSFP. These are facilities that have been retired from programmatic use and are contaminated with radioactive material. The majority of these facilities are located in the 100 and 200 Areas and include shutdown production reactors, chemical separators/processing plants, waste handling facilities, and various support structures. The management of these facilities requires a surveillance and maintenance program to keep them in a safe condition and development of a plan for ultimate disposition. This document outlines the plan for managing these facilities to the end of disposition.
