In this work we studied the character of the chemical interaction and some physical-chemical properties of phases of the system CaSe-In/sub 2/Se/sub 3/. The constitution diagram of the system CaSe-In/sub 2/Se/sub 3/, in which the congruently melting compound CaIn/sub 2/Se/sub 4/ forms at 1075/sup 0/K and the compound CaIn/sub 4/Se/sub 7/, decomposing by a peritectic reaction, forms at 1090/sup 0/K, was constructed. The compound CaIn/sub 2/Se/sub 4/ is a high-resistance, photosensitive, p-type semiconductor.
