Synthesis, purification and properties of a new class of pteridine derivatives

Conference ·
OSTI ID:7190164

A mixture of dihydroneopterin triphosphate (H/sub 2/NTP) was boiled with Tris-HCl at pH 8.5 and several compounds with unique uv and fluorescent properties were produced, one of them thought to be 6-pyruvoyl-H/sub 4/-pterin (PH/sub 4/P). This paper presents evidence that the pteridine derivatives represent a new group with unique structural characteristics and that, although none of them are PH/sub 4/P, the latter is also a precursor for their chemical synthesis. 4 refs., 2 figs.
