Title: Apparatus and method for adapting an enlarged flow guide to an existing steam turbine

This patent describes a steam turbine having an annular flow path bounded at its outer periphery by an inner cylinder and a flow guide, a plurality of first arcuate members arranged between the inner cylinder wall and the flow guide vertical flange along a first portion of the circumferential extent of the flow guide vertical flange, second arcuate members arranged between the inner cylinder and the flow guide vertical flange along a second portion of the circumferential extent of the flow guide vertical flange, bosses formed in the inner cylinder wall, and a lip machined in the inner cylinder outer diameter and a mating groove machined ins aid inner diameter of the first arcuate members. This patent also describes a steam turbine inner cylinder having a circumferentially extending radially oriented wall and an outer diameter, a method of installing an enlarged exhaust flow guide, it comprises: machining a lip in the outer diameter of the inner cylinder; drilling and tapping holes in the wall; installing a threaded plug having a face in each of the holes; mounting arcuate segments onto the inner cylinder, adjusting the axial position of each of the threaded plugs by rotating the threaded plugs within the threaded holes until the face of each of the threaded plugs bears against the upstream face of one of the arcuate segments; and mounting the exhaust flow guide onto the downstream face of the arcuate segments.
