The extraction behavior of Am and Eu in the systems trioctylamine--cyclohexanone (methyl isobutyl ketone)--LiNO/sub 3/(Al(NO/sub 3/)/sub 3/)--HNO/sub 3/ was studied as a function of the concentration of the latter in the aqueous phase. It was shown that solutions of TOA in cyclohexanone and methyl isobutyl ketone can be used for the quantitative extraction of trivalent transplutonium and rare earth elements from acid nitrate solutions. It was suggested that in these systems, the nitrate anionic coordination-unsolvated complex of the metal is extracted with the amine, while the ketones play the role of ''inert diluents.''
