Evidence of massive neutrinos was sought in the {pi}{sup +}{r arrow}{ital e}{sup +}{nu} decay spectrum with the background from the {pi}{r arrow}{mu}{r arrow}{ital e} decay chain highly suppressed. Upper limits (90% C.L.) were set on the neutrino mixing parameter {vert bar}{ital U}{sub {ital e}{ital i}}{vert bar}{sup 2}{lt}10{sup {minus}7} in the mass region 50{lt}{ital m}{sub {nu}}{lt}130 MeV/{ital c}{sup 2}.
