The results are given of detailed UBV photometry of the interacting system VV 242 (NGC 7253a, b). The standard photometric parameters of the galaxies are determined: the integrated apparent and absolute magnitudes, the color indices, and some other parameters. The distributions of the surface brightness of the galaxies in different color bands and the distribution of the color B - V over the system are given. It is shown that the galaxies are giant spirals of type Sbc-Sc or SBbc-SBc. All the main observed features of the system (deformation of the outer regions of the galaxies, noncoplanarity of their structure, and the presence of giant H II regions) can be attributed to the tidal interaction of the members of the system.
