A workshop on the impact of information technology on Canadian society is one of a series of workshops that will explore the social, economic, and political impacts of innovation. The proliferation of microprocessor-enhanced products is highly competitive and is diffusing at an unprecedented rate. The workshop participants discussed the philosophy of technological impact, the factors affecting the rate of diffusion, the impacts on employment and the quality and organization of work, health and safety issues, and possible policies to address these problems. 24 references.
