Hydraulic model studies for backfilling mine cavities. (Second series of tests)

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:7181278
Hydraulic model tests to study different aspects of backfilling mine cavities with sand and waste material to reduce subsidence of land at the surface above the mine cavities are discussed. Tests were made in the model of an idealized coal mine that was operated to determine the results of various conditions where mine cavities are backfilled by pumping a fine sand slurry. Fine, uniform blow sand having a median size of 0.14 mm obtained from the Rock Springs, Wyoming area was used to produce the sand slurry. (GRA)
