This book describes the operating mechanisms of random-type tower packings and modern design methods. Presents procedures that have been used successfully to design more than 1,200 columns within the last six years. These towers have diameters as large as 46 feet and develop as many as 128 theoretical stages. Covers new types of packing shapes along with a description of new applications for packed towers, such as high-vacuum distillation and high-pressure fractionation.
