In this paper the isobaric heat capacity, C[sub p], of liquid 2,2-dichloro-1,1,1-trifluoroethane (CHCl[sub 2]CF[sub 3], HCFC-123), which is a promising alternative to CFC-11, has been measured by using flow calorimetry. The values of 80 C[sub p] have been determined in the range of temperatures from 275.64 to 440 K and pressures from 0.5 to 3.2 MPa, respectively. The overall uncertainties of the determined C[sub p] values are concluded to be less than [plus minus]0.4% for temperatures below 420 K, [plus minus]0.5% at 430 K, [plus minus]0.8% at 440 K, respectively. The C[sub p] data have been correlated with a function of temperature and pressure within [plus minus]0.4%, and the C[sub p] of saturated liquid, C[sub p][prime], have been derived from the correlation.
