Standard method for analysis of natural gases and related types of gaseous mixtures by the mass spectrometer
A mass spectrophotometric method for the determination of the chemical composition of natural gases and like gaseous mixtures through the C/sub 4/ hydrocarbons is described. Determinations of the following components may be made: He, Ne, Ar, O/sub 2/, N/sub 2/, CO/sub 2/, H/sub 2/S, SO/sub 2/, methane, ethane, ethene, propane, propene, isobutane butane, butenes, pentanes, pentenes, and hexane. Information concerning vapors of heavier hydrocarbons that may be present is also available from the spectrograms. The apparatus and procedure are described in detail. The precision and accuracy of the results obtained by this method for the chief components are tabulated. The method for computing sample analysis is contained in an appendix to the method. (BLM)
