Low-energy electron attachment to neutral C[sub [ital n]] clusters ([ital n][le]30) has been studied using the Rydberg electron transfer technique. The mass spectra of C[sub [ital n]][sup [minus]] ions obtained suggest that certain carbon clusters (e.g., C[sub 5], C[sub 10], C[sub 12], C[sub 16], C[sub 18]) have much larger low-energy electron attachment cross sections than other clusters.
