Dimuon production in a quark-parton model. [Cross sections, bounds, positivity, symmetry]

We obtain bounds on the dimuon production ratio sigma/sup nu/(..mu../sup -/..mu../sup +/)/sigma/sup nu-bar/(..mu../sup +/..mu../sup -/) within the framework of a quark-parton model. The bounds follow from positivity conditions for the integrated valence and sea. Charmed-meson and -baryon production is taken into account. Specific symmetry assumptions for the sea contributions allow us to study the cross sections for dimuon production. (AIP)
